What Is
"Everyone's Reading"?

Everyone's Reading is a community-wide reading program sponsored by metro Detroit public libraries in Oakland and Wayne counties. Now in our eleventh year, Everyone’s Reading promotes community dialogue through the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book.

Additional programming, ranging from book discussion groups to an author talk, is offered to enhance the reading experience.

As Sandra Brown's Web site states:

"Probably the most frequently asked question I get is, 'Were do you get your ideas?' My reply is always the same. For all of the 77 books I've written, there are 77 ways in which the story came about.

The plot for my new book, Lethal, actually began with two elements, setting and character. If you've read me over the past decade you know that I often return to Louisiana for my settings. I love the place because the qualities that define it and make it fascinating also lend themselves to great storytelling. But the essential element of this book is the character of Coburn. If he hadn't been who he is my idea wouldn't have panned out. It was he who turned the idea into a story. He's definitely not a warm, fuzzy kind of guy. He's dangerous. He's mean. It's even been alleged that he's heartless. He's, well, lethal."

This year's Everyone's Reading selection is Lethal by Sandra Brown.
